You can put it anywhere - on your website, a blog, classified ads, even offline leaflets etc. As long as a buyer gets to the site by clicking on or typing in your link you will get an affiliate payment (clickbank tracks all sales and then will send you a check).

This video's a good overview of how to select products, but is by no means granular enough to be considered a "plan of action". Marketing effort = sales, PPC can add up if you're inexperienced. Be careful, track the cost per conversion for EVERYTHING, and scale based on mathematics not emotions. Good luck!
