Markets have never been "fair" in some abstract sense. Why should we expect them to be? The brokers would go broke if it were "fair." The problem is that everyday people have been convinced to "invest" (to make the lose of our purchasing power less apparent). Yet study after study shows that most people lose money in the markets. Markets are made by and for the rich, and even they get burned. Buy a home. Put your money in a bank or under your mattress. If you decide to invest, read everything.

I like that Max is a fan of sound money, and I agree "deregulation" and rigged markets are a big problem. But it seems to me that when markets get to the point of having some parties learning how to fleece others really well so that the system faces collapse, the solution is to let the system collapse. How else will people learn? In the long run, putting in regulations that "protect" fools from past fleecing strategies just sets them up for the new and bigger ones next time.
